President and Chief Executive Officer
Gil Brown grew up in Union Dale, Pennsylvania located in the northeast corner of the state. A small town with a population of just below 300, it is best known as the home of Elk Mountain ski resort. Gil has over 30 years’ experience in healthcare operations/management. His career path has taken him to Connecticut, New York City, Florida, and back to Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Hospice of Central PA, he served, for eight years, as the Chief Operating Officer at Hospice by the Sea, Inc., a Florida-based not-for-profit provider of hospice, home health care and palliative care services. Gil’s extensive career in healthcare includes corporate and regional positions with Aetna Health Plans, Director of Managed Care for the Queens Health Network of the New York City Health and Hospital Corporation and Director of Managed Care for Continuum Health Partners in New York City. Gil has a B.A. in psychology from Bloomsburg University and a M.S. in organizational behavior from the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business. Gil’s additional certifications include CHPCA (Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Administrator) and SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources). Gil lives in Susquehanna Township with his husband Pedro Lozada and their two dogs, Dan and Dora.
Maria Olender, DO
Dr. Olender originates from Odessa, Ukraine, arriving in the United States as a child, along with her family, in the 1990’s. She grew up in New Jersey and attended Franklin and Marshall College for her undergraduate studies. Medical school brought her back to New Jersey where she completed her training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Stratford. She went on to complete a Family Medicine residency at the Reading Hospital in Reading, Pennsylvania. After deciding to pursue further education in symptom management and end-of-life care, she completed a one-year fellowship at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. When she is not working, Dr. Olender enjoys spending time with her husband and baby daughter exploring the outdoors around the midstate.
Michelle Campbell, RN
Director of Clinical Services
Michelle Campbell is the Director of Clinical Services for Hospice of Central PA and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Intake and Admissions Departments. Michelle graduated from Westmoreland County Community College in 2010 as a Registered Nurse. She started her nursing career in the UPMC system, working as a cardiac critical care nurse. When her family relocated to central Pennsylvania, Michelle launched into different fields of nursing, including utilization management and a clinical liaison role where she was able to build relationships with local hospital systems. Michelle has been married to Dennis, a minister, for 25 years. They have three grown children, Ben, Kimmy and foster daughter, Alicia, as well as a son-in-law, Jacob.
Director of Information Services
Andy Hauer is the Director of Information Services for HCP. His responsibilities include the design, implementation, management, and maintenance of all information technology at HCP as well as conversion of the agency’s data into actionable information and knowledge. He holds an MBA from Millersville University, and BA in International Relations from American University. Immediately after completion of his BA, Andy spent two years in Togo, West Africa with the Peace Corps as an Environmental Protection Extension Agent. Before joining HCP in 2011, Andy held various positions in international public health, market analysis, and hospice quality assessment and performance improvement. He is originally from New York’s Hudson Valley but has been a resident of Lancaster for the past ten years where he lives with his wife and son. Andy is known for his gruff yet endearing demeanor, and his can-do attitude.
Stacy Marciano, RN
Levos Supportive Care
Stacy Marciano is a Patient Care Guide and the manager of Hospice of Central PA’s palliative care program, Levos Supportive Care. Stacy graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College in 2006 as a Registered Nurse. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from Eastern University in 2012. She was a hospice nurse for Hospice of Central PA for 8 years and transitioned into Palliative Care in 2016. Stacy also has an Associate’s Degree in Specialized Business in Legal Assistance and worked as a paralegal prior to obtaining her nursing degree. Stacy is a lifelong resident of the Harrisburg area. Stacy’s spare time is filled by playing with and training her very energetic Yorkie puppy named Izzy.
Chief Development Officer
Beth Mihmet is the Chief Development Officer for Hospice of Central PA and works with the marketing and fundraising teams at HCP. She studied English and Art at Colgate University and received her MBA from Temple University. Prior to joining HCP, Beth served as the Director of Development for the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and Executive Director for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Central PA Chapter. Beth serves as a volunteer on the board of directors for the Rotary Club of Harrisburg and Leadership Harrisburg Area. She lives in Mechanicsburg with her wife, Sarah Myers, and a very demanding cat named Cookie.
Darlette Norfleet, BSN, RN CHPN
Director of Education
Darlette Norfleet, RN, BSN, CHPN graduated from Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing in 1994. She earned her BSN from Millersville University in 2018, and has been certified in hospice and palliative care since 2006. As the Director of Education, Darlette’s responsibilities include onboarding new employees, continuing education, annual training, CPR training, and community education. She also manages the hospice aide team at HCP. Darlette has a long career at HCP, more than 24 years working at HCP to provide the highest quality of emotional, physical and spiritual support. Outside of work, Darlette enjoys spending time with her husband and four children since they remind her to appreciate life and moments of tranquility.
Susan Resavy, LSW ACHP-SW
Director of Family Services
Susan Resavy is HCP’s Director of Family Services. In this role Susan’s primary responsibility is the management and clinical supervision of the social work, spiritual care, volunteer and bereavement departments at HCP. Susan is originally from Scranton, PA. She obtained her BSW from Penn State University and her MSW from Marywood College. Susan is a licensed social worker in PA and has an advanced certification in hospice and palliative care. Prior to joining HCP in 1989, Susan’s professional experience included working as a psychiatric social worker with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings; medical social worker in an ER/hospital setting and as a social worker in a nursing home setting. Susan resides in Harrisburg with her husband, Charlie. They have two adult children, Abigail and Daniel. She is a diehard Penn State and Denver Broncos football fan!
Melissa Ross, RN
Director of Quality and Clinical Operations
Melissa Ross is the Director of Quality and Clinical Operations for Hospice of Central PA. She is responsible for regulatory compliance and quality care at HCP. Melissa graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College in 2009 as a Registered Nurse. She worked in hospital environments until making the transition to hospice care in 2012 and joined HCP in 2014. Melissa is a Steering Committee member for the Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement Section of NHPCO’s National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals. Melissa is also an accomplished pianist, having played since the age of six.
Director of Finance
Sharon Weaver was born and raised in Hegins, Pa. She is a graduate of Central Pennsylvania College and completed her bachelor’s in accounting at Elizabethtown College. Sharon has more than twenty years of experience in accounting. Before joining Hospice of Central PA, Sharon worked for the Rite Aid Corporation, Cumberland Valley School District and Mack Remanufacturing. Sharon enjoys spending time outside with her son, Luke, and spending time with her horses.
