Grateful Families

We often hear from families who are seeking a special way to remember a loved one or show their gratitude for those who supported them. There are two kinds of heartfelt gifts that can help you to remember your loved ones and also benefit future patients and families in our community.

Memorial gifts offer a way to remember a loved one. Families are notified that you have made a gift (not the amount of the gift) when you provide a name and address for this purpose.

Recognition gifts offer a way to honor (or recognize) someone special who is alive. This may be the deceased’s surviving spouse/child, a member of the deceased’s care team, or an individual staff member here at HCP. For these gifts, HCP will notify the individual that you have made a gift in their honor (not the amount) when you provide an address for this purpose.

FAQ

Q: I’d like to make a gift in memory of my mother who just passed away. Where do I go to do this?

A: For gifts in memory of a loved one who has passed, please click on the donation link above, check the box that states “I’d like to dedicate this gift.”, and select “In Memory of”. If you would like to make a gift in honor of your HCP nurse, social worker, aide, chaplain, etc., follow the same steps and select “In Honor of”. Gifts can be made in memory of or in honor of multiple people.

Q: I made a gift in memory of a recently deceased friend, but the family has not received notification of the gift yet. Will they be notified and how long will that take?

A: HCP has a wonderful group of trained volunteers who send weekly thank you cards to our donors and acknowledgement cards to the requested notified individual(s). These hand written cards are a labor of love from our volunteers and take approximately 2 weeks from the date of donation to the date of mailing. Gift notifications are only sent to those who you have included a name and address with your donation. If you are unsure whether you included a name and address, contact Yvette Lynch at 717-943-1052 or ylynch@hospiceofcentralpa.org.

Q: I made a gift in honor of the HCP nurse who provided care for my loved one. Will they be notified of the gift if I do not have their address?

A: For gifts made in honor of HCP staff, all staff members will automatically be notified of your donation as long as you provide their name. HCP will notify them internally.

Q: Do I have to donate online?

A: There is always more than one way to give! Credit card donations can be processed by you at the above links or you may call Yvette Lynch at 717-943-1052 to process a credit card donation over the phone. In addition, you may also mail a check or cash to:

From a Grateful Family

“Words cannot express our gratitude, but I’ll try.

The Dragonfly team provided compassionate, respectful, and knowledgeable care to both parents, Joseph “Skip” and Mary Ellen Wiedeman. Every team member interacted with them as though they really mattered and had a life story worth knowing.

During Skip’s final weeks of increasing at home care, we weren’t alone. The Dragonfly team of nurses and aides provided daily support with visits and care.

Finally, Skip’s days at Carolyn’s House allowed him to transition with dignity and allowed us to just “be there.”
Yes, we have giant holes now in our lives but know that Skip and Mary Ellen had the best care possible. And for that, we will be forever grateful.”
